Scholarship values vary between 10% and 75% remission of annual tuition fees for the duration of the schooling, and are determined by the Headmaster on advice from the Director of Sport. Applicants must support their Scholarship Application with two referees’ reports outlining their suitability for a Sport Scholarship at The Southport School.
One referee report must be from a school coach or teacher, and the other from a recognised club or Regional, State, National or international coach in the applicant’s chosen sport. The scholarship selection process is competitive and not all applicants who meet the basic eligibility criteria are necessarily awarded scholarships. Many boys on Sports Scholarships are performing at State or National selection level. The Headmaster may take a families' ability to afford the fees into account and parents in this situation should flag this on their application. In such cases family income information may be required to be conveyed confidentially to the Headmaster.
